Hello 23

Is it strange that hearing that I am 23 sounds older than I feel? I guess it shouldn’t. I’ve been working full-time for five years now, I’m married, I have a house – the list of reasons it makes sense stack up pretty quickly but I still just imagine that 23 year olds when I was growing up had life figured out and more than that they look and acted old.

This year we spent my birthday at Castle Mountain, a little ski resort tucked in-between Glacier National Park and Calgary. It was beautiful and the best part is that we went Cat Skiing – meaning FRESH TRACKS all day long. The best ski day of my life (so far).

Since my birthday falls so close to New Years I don’t feel like I ever say “when I am ___ I want to do this.” My goals – are honestly typically not tied to my age or year and instead are found somewhere on my five year plan. But this year I have decided that for my 23rd year I want to be more about the present.

I have a lot of people talk to me about Zac and I’s travels. It would be incorrect to say that we hardly ever travel but we do a lot of other things and I have realized that due to what I choose to share not many people know about the other parts of our lives, to me that is sad because I really like those other parts. I use a social platform and have found lately that I feel less fulfilled sharing the highlight reel of our life and really want to get to know you guys and you get to know us on a more personal level. So here are some things to help begin that process:

Cake by my amazing friend Ruby

  1. I am not a morning person and yet am trying (and getting closer to succeeding at a five days a week 5:20 am start at the gym).
  2. Although Snickers “our puppy” is the CUTEST thing he isn’t actually ours and he isn’t a puppy – people assume that because he only weighs two pounds but he is actually my families Chihuahua and just turned 13
  3. I don’t succeed in “house hold duties” my house is not tidy all the time and we didn’t take our Christmas decor down until Jan 14.
  4. I want our next big purchase to be an investment property and am trying to decide on whether we should get an Airbnb about four hours away or a rental near Salt Lake.
  5. I am REALLY wanting to become a good chef and am trying to decrease how many times per week we go out and instead of making “boxed” meals have been using Pinterest etc. to get some great recipes!
  6. We are going to redo our kitchen this year and I really cannot wait. I love homes. Everything about them and each time we remodel, or get furniture or even just clean the house I get excited because it just feels so refreshing!

Thanks for reading along.

xx
