Sisters Oregon

The other week we clambered into the truck and settled into what would be our situation for the next 10 hours. Four adults in the back of a truck and Zac’s parents in the front. We were off to the wedding of his younger brother.

I had never heard of Sister Oregon before and didn’t really know what to expect. But typically when I think of Oregon I imagine the lush green with waterfalls that Duke and I explored two years ago.

Sisters is not that it’s a little town nestled in redwood trees with thousands of pinecones littering the ground. It was beautiful.IMG_3023

We spent Thursday in pre wedding festivities, the spa, rehearsal dinner, and finishing the night with an intense game of monopoly.

Friday was morning yoga on the lawn followed by the ceremony.

It was so fun to attend another ceremony, especially one of our siblings! It’s our first outdoor one since our own nearly a year ago and so many memories came flooding back.

Saturday we explored several of the nearby falls.

Sahalie Falls: I can’t even call this a hike, but climbing down off the path to then be drenched by the powerful mist it sprays is certainly worth it.

Tamolitch Falls – I never heard of this but if I  had a U.S. travel bucket list I would add this right now. The water was stunning, an almost shockingly bright blue. We did a polar plunge in it. It’s cold enough that your breathe gets swept out from under you and you lose feeling in your hands just moments after jumping in. Afterwards standing on the bank I felt an intriguing sensation as my body adjusted to the air temperature.

Lava Fields – Not far from the falls we pulled up to an area where as far as I could see was filled with Lava Rock. We climbed up on top to see trees starting to sprout from the dark rock.

It was such a beautiful getaway in redwoods.
