Decade Dos
I have never been a huge fan of blogs- it seems to be such a typical Utah type of thing to do. Right?
1 Graduate High School.
2 Marry Your Best Friend.
3 Start a Blog.
It’s an ideal way to show the world all the best parts of your life and skim over or disregard all the ordinary and crappy things that you go through…at least that was the opinion I had prior to starting a blog.
I spent the past four months in Washington D.C. on a political internship & although blogging was an assignment I actually began to really enjoy it. Mainly for my own satisfaction. Frankly I have been overwhelmed with the amount of people who have talked to me about my posts from D.C.
Coming home to a whirlwind of catching up with old friends, family parties, & starting work again it feels like I can’t keep anything straight… And even though I am not living across the country there simply isn’t enough time to see all the people I care about on a regular basis.
Today was my 20th birthday & although the twitter shout outs have drastically decreased from my days roaming the halls of Woods Cross I have never received so many thoughtful messages, phone calls, & cards.
It is always a pleasant surprise when people you haven’t seen in years take the time to genuinely express what your involvement in their life has meant (don’t worry I am well aware of the over exaggeration that goes into most birthday texts). Even more than that it is a great moment to stop and appreciate the people who have consistently been a part of my life year after year.
Tonight I feel so much gratitude for what all those people have done for me. I read so many compliments from people today but for each one that I received I could recipricate ten back to them. I am very blessed to have experienced some amazing things in the past year, but am more blessed to be surrounded by an incredible network of people.
